I have been less active on the site recently, but wanted to highlight a book that I am reading for your consideration.
This will be a quick post. I intend to post an update on some things including a Rip Roaring Retail REIT Rebound post (ok, that’s a working title), but I’ve been otherwise engaged of late. My kid has had the croup this week (complete with trip to ER…my god was that system designed in the 50’s or what) and mom is out of town playing in the state tennis championships this weekend. More baby. Happy Father’s day to me!
On a related note. I am sure most of us pretty much love anything Michael Lewis writes. I know I do (although, there are still a couple of his works that I have yet to read). For the Father’s Day gift you will probably have to give yourself (unless your spouse reads certain fabulous finance blogs) I recommend Lewis’ hilarious fatherhood memoir:
It really is kind of a perfect Father’s Day read. Another good idea for Father’s Day treat is Bad Blood:
I’m only about a third of the way through the book as of writing, but it’s really a page turner. It’s about Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes, if you’ve not heard of it before. This is a fascinating case study by John Carreyrou of the WSJ. He’s a good follow on twitter, by the way, lots of great Tesla snark.
A lot of really successful (lucky?) investors and business people were snowed by this thing. I see that DOJ just indicted Holmes and “Sonny” her romantic partner, discussed in the book, for wire fraud. It will be interesting to follow the progress of that case.
One final thing, The Brooklyn Investor has a new post sort of catching up on the market (I’m also currently reading Bull which seems to tie in with his thoughts about the current market environment) and then going through the JPM annual report. Check out his post here. It is a great blog to add to your RSS feed if you are an investor.
